Achieving your Long-Term Goal

“Whether you think you can, or you can’t: you’re right” – Henry Ford

What have you always wanted to achieve? What is the one thing that you have thought about over, and over again, that you would like to do? Have you done it yet? So, what’s stopping you?

Here’s the thing, if we spend too much time thinking of all the ways we won’t be able to achieve something, then we’ll prove ourselves right! As the opening quote from Henry Ford exemplifies, at the end of the day, once you consider the things that are out of your control, the only thing that is stopping you from achieving your goal is you.

Let that sink in for a little bit…

it’s quite a lot of responsibility to take on. But how exciting is it that the power to achieve your long-term goal lies in your hands!

It might not be a straight forward journey, there will be times when you want to quit, or there will be times when life gets in the way, but guess what, guess who has the choice to keep going, reflect, reassess, figure out what works and change their game plan: yes, it’s you!!

If you follow the rules for setting SMARTER goals , there’s really no reason you can’t achieve your long-term goal. The main point to consider for setting a long term-term goal is that you are enthusiastic about your goal. The thought of achieving this goal needs to make you excited, if you were to fast forward to the future and look back, it should make you proud that you attained it. Be realistic and keep reflecting on the process.

You can do it, it might not happen quickly, it might not go the way you originally planned, it definitely won’t happen the same way as it did for someone else, but you can get there. If you think you can, you’re right!
